High-temperature electromechanical loss in piezoelectric langasite and catangasite crystals

نویسندگان

چکیده

Temperature-dependent acoustic loss Q−1 is studied in partially disordered langasite (LGS, La3Ga5SiO14) and ordered catangasite (CTGS, Ca3TaGa3Si2O14) crystals compared with previously reported CTGS langatate (LGT, La3Ga5.5Ta0.5O14) data. Two independent techniques, a contactless tone-burst excitation technique contacting resonant piezoelectric spectroscopy, are used this study. Contributions to the measured Q−1(T) determined through fitting physics-based functions, extracted fit parameters, including activation energies of processes, discussed. It shown that losses LGS caused by superposition several mechanisms, intrinsic phonon–phonon loss, point-defect relaxations, conductivity-related relaxations.

Tungsten as a Chemically-Stable Electrode Material on Ga-Containing Piezoelectric Substrates Langasite and Catangasite for High-Temperature SAW Devices

Thin films of tungsten on piezoelectric substrates La₃Ga₅SiO14 (LGS) and Ca₃TaGa₃Si₂O14 (CTGS) have been investigated as a potential new electrode material for interdigital transducers for surface acoustic wave-based sensor devices operating at high temperatures up to 800 °C under vacuum conditions. Although LGS is considered to be suitable for high-temperature applications, it undergoes chemic...

High Temperature SAW Gas Sensor on Langasite

Novel Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) devices using the new langasite (LGS) family of crystals have been designed, fabricated, and tested for high temperature (up to 750°C) gas sensor applications. The devices were fabricated using platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd) thin film technology and were mounted in a high temperature sealed stainless steel chamber for gas testing. The high temperature SAW sen...

Pressure-induced phase transitions of piezoelectric single crystals from the langasite family: La3Nb0.5Ga5.5O14 and La3Ta0.5Ga5.5O14.

The hydrostatic compression of piezoelectric single crystals of La(3)Nb(0.5)Ga(5.5)O(14) (LNG) and La(3)Ta(0.5)Ga(5.5)O(14) (LTG) was studied at pressures of up to 23 GPa in diamond-anvil high-pressure cells using single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The reflection-intensity data for LNG and LTG were collected at pressures of up to 22.8 GPa and 16.7 GPa, respectively. Both compounds sho...

High-Temperature SAW Wireless Strain Sensor with Langasite

Two Surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonators were fabricated on langasite substrates with Euler angle of (0°, 138.5°, 117°) and (0°, 138.5°, 27°). A dipole antenna was bonded to the prepared SAW resonator to form a wireless sensor. The characteristics of the SAW sensors were measured by wireless frequency domain interrogation methods from 20 °C to 600 °C. Different temperature behaviors of the se...
